BK Engineering Bacteria -Cell-compatible mineralization methods of biological interfaces

Inspired by the mineralization protection mechanism, we describe a cell-compatible biointerface mineralization approach that generates ultra-persistent and on-mobile coatings on bacterial surfaces to address these challenges. The mineral coating makes the bacteria highly resistant to the manufactured associated oxygen exposure, UV exposure, and 75% ethanol. After oral administration, the coating can actively neutralize gastric acid and release the encapsulated bacteria through a spontaneous and rapid double decomposition reaction. In addition to acid neutralization, the resulting calcium ions can trigger the micelle aggregation of bile acids, enabling the dual exemption of gastric acid and bile acids to achieve uncompromised bacterial viability.
